Abstract

The paper summarizes the results of exposure trials of 96 Malaysian timber species treated with Creosote. Timbers with absorptions in excess of 320 kg m-3 had very low failure rates. It was also seen that there was variation in service life with different absorptions which needs further investigation. Based on the results a durability classification for treated timber is proposed.
