Abstract

The following models for estimating growth and yield of rattan canes by counting the internodes are derived: two models in terms of cane length, each of which is based on the assumption of constant and variable internode length respectively; four models in
terms of cane volume, each of which is based on the assumption of a different combination of constant and variable internode length and diameter; and four models in terms of cane weight with the same assumptions as those for models in terms of cane volume. The models were tested with data from a Calamus caesius plot. Some hints on the use of these models are given.
