Abstract

Acacia mangium has been planted in large areas of southern China ever since its introduction into China in 1979. This article reports on A. mangium biomass accumulation over  a period  of 15 years in a plantation in southern China. The biomass of A. mangiumn increased from the first to the seventh year, after which the growth slowed down. Eleven-year-old A. mangium can facilitate the conversion of degraded lands into mixed native species forests. This paper also points out that N and P deficiencies may be an inhibitive factor to biomass growth.
