Abstract

This study examined the multiplication and in vitro rooting of micropropagated Acacia hybrid clones and the subsequent acclimatisation survival of the plantlets. Shoot multiplication rates varied between 1.6 and 2.5 for the six hybrid clones tested. Of the shoot explants placed on in vitro rooting media, between 50 and 60% formed roots in culture. Shoots possessing in vitro formed roots exhibited far greater survival during the acclimatisation process than those without in vitro formed roots.
